Swallowfield
Swallowfield lies six miles southeast of Reading. The parish included the hamlet of Farley Hill. It is on the River Loddon and the main road from Reading to Basingstoke. The soil is mainly clay with sand and gravel on the higher ground, and some alluvium and gravel. Nearly half the land was arable, slightly less permanent grass, and there was a small amount of woodland and heath. There was an annual fair.
